Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle's foundation, Archewell, paid tribute to British Prince Philip after his death on Friday, while speculation continued over their plans to attend the funeral.

The foundation has updated the archewell.com website to display only one message without any menus or links to other pages.

'In Loving Memory of His Royal Highness, The Duke of Edinburgh, 1921-2021', read the message in white on a darkened background.

"Thank you for your service, You will be highly remembered," it stated.

Philip, the longest-serving royal partner in British history, died peacefully this morning in Windsor Castle, west of London, Buckingham Palace announced in a statement.

His death quickly sparked speculation about when Harry would come to Britain for his grandfather's cremation and whether Meghan, expecting their second child, would follow him.

The former Royal couple, also known as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, now lives in Los Angeles after deciding early last year to end the royal service on the front line.

They have not yet said in public whether they will attend the funeral. If they do, it would be their first return to Britain since their explosive interview with American talk show superstar Oprah Winfrey last month.

During the two-hour session, which is attended by more than 17 million people in the US and more than 11 million in Britain, Harry and Meghan said that racism played a role in leaving the UK for North America.

The couple declared a senior royal had considered how dark their child's skin would be before he was born. Meghan's mother is black, and her father is white.

The claim caused a whirlwind of speculation about who would have declared it. Neither the Queen, now 94, nor Prince Philip, made the racist remarks, Winfrey later told CBS.

Prince Harry (36) and his wife Meghan 39 accused newspapers of racial stereotyping, especially against the coverage of Harry's sister-in-law Kate, that's white.

The interview with Oprah has caused the royal family's biggest crisis since Harry's mother; Princess Diana, died in a car accident in 1997.

It also raised concerns about what kind of reception Harry and Meghan could receive from his family if they returned to Britain.

Meghan will give birth to a girl this summer, and that could make the trip to Britain difficult. They may also be subject to Covid test and quarantine rules, although they may be exempt.

Prince Harry is claimed to have a good relationship with his grandparents. He told interview show host James Corden earlier this year that he had been doing zoom calls with Queen Elizabeth II and Philip after going to the United States so they could see their great-grandson, Archie.
