The entire Indian community across Trinidad and Tobago mourned the passing of renowned Hindi singer Lata Mangeshkar. Leader of Opposition Kamla Persad Bissessar also shared a heartfelt message on her Facebook account, recognizing the "nightingale of India" Kamla Persad wrote, "I am saddened to hear of the passing of legendary singer, Lata Mangeshkar. Her music touched millions around the world, including myself. Nightingale's music of love will live on for generations to come. Condolences to family and friends during this time of mourning".  Hundreds of people across Trinidad and Tobago and the world experienced a wave of shock after the passing of Lata Mangeshkar, known to be India's most influential and finest singer.  Mangeshkar died due to multiple organ failure at a Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai on Sunday, 6 February 2022. She was hospitalized for 28 days and died aged 92.

Trinidad and Tobago have one of the biggest Indian and Hindu populations across the Caribbean and West Indies. Mangeshkar was a big name as a playback singer in India's lavish Bollywood musicals. She sang songs that the actors then lipped to when they were in the movies. There were a lot of people who called her the "Melody Queen" and "Nightingale of India. Many people in Trinidad and Tobago took it to social media and shared a message for Lata Mangeshkar. One user named Dahlia Mohammed wrote, "So sad but her life was well lived with her gift from God which she dedicated completely to her music. May she Rest In Peace now; her legacy will be enjoyed with deep emotion and passion for many generations to come".  Another user named Myna Ramroop wrote, "She became The Nightingale of Indian songs in her lifetime, now she's singing with, and for God and the Angels, May Bhagwan Krishna receive her soul in his loving arms, Om Sadgati, Om Shanti,".
