PM Harris talks about progress as St Kitts and Nevis celebrate 38 years of Independence
Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis Dr Timothy Harris addressed the nation on Sunday morning, as the country is celebrating its 38th Independence Day.

He congratulated the people of St Kitts and Nevis on the occasion of Independence Day. He said that 38 years ago, the sun rose for the first time on the sovereign state of St Kitts and Nevis.
Prime Minister said on 18 September 1983, the Union Jack made its final descent from the twin-island nation, and the national flag of St Kitts and Nevis was rose on 19 September 1983.
"This was the beginning of a journey of adaptation, diversification and recreation," said Prime Minister Dr Timothy Harris.
He also said that since the Independence, St Kitts and Nevis made tremendous growth in all sectors, including health, education, infrastructure, economic transition, trade, international relations and human rights.

Prime Minister Harris stated that St Kitts and Nevis is rated among the best in the region across so many international development indices like literacy rate, per capita income, the rule of law, debt to GDP ratio, ICT indicators, transparency and good governance.
He said St Kitts and Nevis also produced some of the world champions in athletics, Olympians and many internationally recognized artists. PM said St Kitts and Nevis also hosted ICC Cricket and FIFA. He also recalled the recent victory of St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the Caribbean Premier League.Furthermore, he also mentioned the growth of youth and said the youngsters of St Kitts and Nevis are securing outstanding excellence in international robotics competitions. He also applauded the diaspora of St Kitts and Nevis.
PM Harris said St Kitts and Nevis achieved so much in such a little time. Speaking about the COVID-19 pandemic, Prime Minister said the country has been coping relatively well with the virus and fighting the dreaded pandemic.
