Charlestown, Nevis: Mark Brantley- Premier of Nevis and leader of Concerned Citizens Movement, called on people with fake profiles to refrain from spreading political propaganda online.
He condemned the usage of fake profiles saying bad things about some political personalities.
"This may not be popular given the political climate in St Kitts and Nevis, but I wish to be clear that I do not and cannot support the use of fake profiles to say the nastiest things about each other regardless of whom we support," said Mark Brantley.
He stated that the people must stop spreading hatred through fake profiles and focus on significant issues concerning the country.
"While the culture of our politics does have some piccong and some jabs, there is a steep decline into venom, nastiness and hatred which certain persons are gleefully embarked upon while hiding behind fake profiles. It has to stop," wrote Brantley.
"I call on those responsible, whether as operators or organizers or pay masters, to stop this madness and let us focus on the important issues that confront our beloved country," he further added.
He also called on other people to share his post if they are fed up with the spread of venom and hatred online, "I would appreciate if you shared this post if you too are fed up with the venom and hatred."
St Kitts and Nevis is currently experiencing heat in the political environment. Deputy Prime Minister Shawn Richards on Wednesday addressed the nation and said that the Team Unity government failed in fulfilling its promises towards the sister island of Nevis.
Besides this, Mark Brantley will also host his monthly press conference on 30 March 2022, where he will be raising many issues related to the national interest of St Kitts and Nevis. All members of the press will be allowed to ask their respective questions.
