A 17-year-old teenager was shot dead at his residence in Jamaica on Thursday night. The deceased have been identified as Delano Spence.

Delano was with his family at their residence in Morass Road in Hartford, Westmoreland, on Thursday night when some gunmen entered his house and also attempted to set the house on fire.

The gunmen fired several shots on Delano before leaving him dead and others severely injured. He was taken to the nearby hospital, where doctors pronounced him brought dead. The others, including a 3-year-old kid, are undergoing treatment at the hospital.

A shattered window pane and bullet holes could be seen at Delano's home. The incident happened at 9:30 pm and left everyone in shock.

Westmoreland is one of seven police divisions under a state of public emergency, slated to end this weekend. The Jamaican opposition is demanding the government extend the state of emergency in the impacted towns, arguing that immediate and stricter measures are required..

Prime Minister Andrew Holness imposed a state of public emergency due to the sudden increase in genocide across Jamaica.

Delano Spence is the ninth person killed by armed men in just twelve days in the parish of Westmoreland. The situation in Jamaica is alarming, as the gang violence continues to touch new skies every day.

The government is concerned as the gun-violence could impact the upcoming tourism season and discourage the travellers to visit the country because of increased crime rate and genocides.
