Philippines: Nine persons were killed in the Philippines and 11 were missing on Tuesday due to flooding and landslides produced by heavy rainfalls from Tropical Cyclone Kompasu, the national disaster agency told.
Kompasu, with the highest sustained winds of 100 kilometres (62 miles) per hour, had consumed the residues of a previous cyclone before progressing landfall in the Philippines on Monday eventide. Approximately 1,600 people were relocated.The disaster management agency stated it was confirming data from its regional units, which explicated four persons killed in avalanches in northern Benguet region and five died in flash floods in Palawan, an island territory in the southwest of the nation.
Officials were taking out search and rescue actions for 11 people, mostly missing following landslides.

The Philippines, an archipelago of higher than 7,600 islands, is hit by about 20 storms or typhoons every year, producing heavy rains that trigger fatal landslides.President Rodrigo Duterte was watching the government's disaster response, his spokesperson Harry Roque told on Tuesday.
He added that rescue personnel were on the scene, while power and water recovery and road cleansing were undertaken.
Kompasu, the 13th tropical storm to enrol the Philippines, is presumed to leave its territory on Tuesday, the state weather agency announced.Latest
