Dominica to establish a Hospitality Training Institute: Minister Denise Charles
Dominica Minister of Tourism Denise Charles stated that the government is looking at ways to establish a hospitality training institute.

She stated that the government recognizes the need for training in all sectors of the hospitality industry and is focusing on methods to improve the skillsets of all persons associated with the industry. She said key experts would be hired to provide certified training sessions.
Minister Charles stated that the tourism industry in Dominica is remarkably growing as cruise-ships berth daily at the Roseau Bayfront and Woodbridge port. She stated that the daily arrival of American airline flights landing in Dominica is supporting the tourism sector. Tourism Minister stated that scuba diving instructors also reported high demand in 2022.
Minister stated the celebrations of tourism month would help showcase Dominica to the world and to take responsibility for enhancing landscapes.
"Tourism is one of the most productive sectors and plays a significant role
in the growth of the national economy, so we must all play our part in ensuring that tourism remains this engine of growth," said Minister Charles.
The Tourism Minister stated that the sector has a direct impact on the upliftment of farmers, vendors, agro-processors, housekeepers and more. She stated that every individual has a personal responsibility to ensure that the industry is successful.
Furthermore, she stated that people who come to visit Dominica want to experience beyond hotel experiences and wish to explore the Nature Island.
"Guests are seeking holistic and authentic experiences which go beyond the hotel and organized tours. They want to feel the spirit of the nature island through our food, sights and people, so we are all significant players in making this tourism landscape more vibrant," said the Tourism Minister. Annually, the Ministry of Tourism, Discover Dominica Authority and key stakeholders such as the Dominica Hotel and Tourism Association observe the month of May as "Tourism Awareness Month" by hosting activities to increase public awareness of tourism's impact on the Island.
