The most awaited first direct flight from Miami, USA, landed at the Douglas Charles Airport Dominica on Wednesday. With over 72 passengers on board, flight Flight 3579, a direct, commercial flight, marked a historic day for the country. The aircraft landed around 3:18 pm at Douglas Charles Airport, after a four-hour flight from Miami, USA. Due to high demand, the twice-weekly, year-round service will expand to three times a week from January 10, 2022. The day is indeed historic for Dominica, as the country is transitioning into a tourism-based economy. The most-awaited International Airport in Dominica is also under construction and expected to fully function by 2025.
