Bahamas: Two men are dead, and one is severely injured after a boating incident that occurred off Rose Island on Friday morning. It is reported that their boat collided with a reef in the area of Rose Island, causing the men to be ejected from the vessel.
According to a police official, the vessel left a marina on East Bay St around 6:30 am and was en route to South Andros when the incident occurred, and the three of them fell into the water.
A nearby boat found the men and retrieved all three, following which they saw two of them were motionless while one was injured. They reported the police authorities who transferred the bodies of the deceased to the Royal Bahamas Defence Force and were accompanied by a Royal Bahamas Police Force vessel.
Meanwhile, the injured male is presently in hospital, where he is listed to be in a serious but stable condition.
The female officer, while reporting the incident, said, “What I can say to you at this time is that around 9 30 this morning, our department was notified that the bodies of two males were found unresponsive in waters near Rose Island, and one male was found with serious head injuries in that area.”
She further added that the preliminary investigation suggested that the three males were on board a small open-hull vessel. A passer by vehicle or passer by vessel in the area observed the male and saw the injured man.
He was able to bring the injured man to Harbor Patrol Base, where that male was taken to a hospital and is presently being tended to for his injuries sustained during the incident.
She said that the two males were pronounced dead, and so they are actively investigating the incident which claimed the lives of the two males. The identities of the deceased are yet to be confirmed by the authorities.
