St Kitts and Nevis, Icelandic diplomats meets in Paris

On second October toward the end in Paris, the Federation's Permanent Delegate to UNESCO, Ambassador David P. Doyle, met with his counterpart, H.E. Ms. Unnur ORRADOTTIR-RAMETTE, Ambassador extraordinaire and plenipotentiary of Iceland to UNESCO, the OECD, and France. They shared a few experiences of common intrigue identified with UNESCO, a specialized UN office advancing global coordinated effort through education, science, and culture. Iceland, which joined UNESCO in 1964, is a functioning part with three locations inscribed on UNESCO's World Heritage List. The represetatives exchanged views on matters of likely collaboration at UNESCO, eminently environmental change adaptation, education and supporting UNESCO exercises identifying with Small Island Developing States (SIDS). Iceland will look for a seat on the UNESCO Executive Board by 2021. At bilateral level, the ambassadors - perceiving that both St. Kitts and Nevis and Iceland share comparative difficulties as island states – traded views on how the Federation may profit by the immense mastery of Iceland in building up a practical fishing part in the twin-island state. The Government of Iceland and the Government of Saint Kitts and Nevis consented to an arrangement concerning the trading of data identifying with Tax matters in 2010. In 2008, Members of the Nevis Island Administration attempted a reality discovering mission to Iceland on geothermal energy, a nation that is a perceived pioneer in the utilization of geothermal energy for space heating and electricity generation.
