Another senior public servant has been placed on extended vacation leave until mid-February by the Timothy Harris-led Team Unity Government.
According to a reliable source, Senior Magistrate, Her Worship Josephine Mallalieu recently completed her vacation leave and was expected to return to the bench at the Sir Lee Llewellyn Moore Judicial and Legal Services Complex, only to be informed that she is to be transferred.
The source, who is knowledgeable of the situation, said the senior magistrate was informed she is to be transferred to the Legal Review Unit but no office space was available.
The Senior Magistrate is one of several government officers who have been sent on vacation or extended leave with full pay.
The list includes Superintendent of Her Majesty's Prison, Juni "Scrape" Hodge and Commissioner of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force, Ian Queeley.
Hodge has been on leave with full pay since November 2017.
Commissioner Queeley is on vacation leave until November 2019.
Assistant Commissioner of Police with Responsibility for the Operations, Terrance James was on leave for several months as the Office of the Prime Minister and the Ministry of National Security headed by Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris grappled with the situation in the full glare of the public.
James was eventually offered and accepted the newly created post of Commissioner of Prison Services.
Two newly-appointed police superintendents, McArthur Browne and Adolph Adams have been handpicked and have been appointed acting Assistant Commissioners of Police.
