The Saint Lucia Tourism Authority was thrilled to welcome the luxurious cruise to the island nation on its maiden call, and it also hosted a brief plaque exchange ceremony to honour the vessel’s captain.

Saint Lucia welcomes Seven Seas Grandeur on maiden call

Saint Lucia: The Seven Seas Grandeur made its inaugural call to Port Castries, Saint Lucia, on Monday, bringing thousands of passengers to the island’s shores. These passengers disembarked to explore the magnificent island.

The Saint Lucia Tourism Authority was thrilled to welcome the luxurious cruise to the island nation on its maiden call, and it also hosted a brief plaque exchange ceremony to honour the vessel’s captain. The officials from SLTA, the Ministry of Tourism, Saint Lucia Air and Sea Ports Authority were welcomed aboard the ship for the plaque exchange ceremony.

The Tourism Authority noted that as the Seven Seas Grandeur arrived in Saint Lucia, it marked a major milestone for the cruise tourism industry. The cruise passengers were also delighted to explore the island and indulge in its unique offerings.

The Authority also remarked that the island is thrilled to welcome the cruise, and the visit showcases the government’s commitment to attract major cruise lines to Saint Lucia.

Notably, the island is witnessing a thriving cruise season and thus far, the 2023/2024 Cruise tourism season has seen the welcoming of 15 inaugural calls, including Carnival Venezia, Mein Schiff 4, Marella Voyager, Emerald Sky, MSC Explora 1, MS Vista, Borealis, Silver Nova, Emerald Azzurra, Norwegian Viva, Island Princess, Ambition, Valiant Lady, Celebrity Beyond and Norwegian Sky.

Seven Seas Grandeur marks the 15th inaugural call of the cruise tourism season in Saint Lucia, with more scheduled calls in 2024.

Since the beginning of the cruise season in October 2023, the island has seen hundreds and thousands of passengers disembarking and exploring Saint Lucia, which has resulted in a major boost to the tourism sector.

Several local vendors, taxi operators and food providers are also benefitting from this boost as the cruise passengers indulge in all these unique offerings of the island.
