PM Skerrit condemns the military attack by Russia, calls to end the aggression
Dominica: Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit condemned the military attack by the Russian Federation against the people of Ukraine. He further added that the government of the Commonwealth of Dominica had been deeply disturbed.

He stated, “The Government of the Commonwealth of Dominica is deeply disturbed and condemns the military attack by the Russian Federation against the people of Ukraine.”

Prime Minister Skerrit further said that the government of Dominica calls urges to put the aggression at the end, and international peace and security must be maintained, as suggested by the United Nations Charter.

“The Commonwealth of Dominica calls for an immediate end to the aggression. These actions are contrary to the maintenance of international peace and security, as enshrined in the United Nations Charter,” the PM's tweet read.

He further urged to stop the ongoing crisis in Ukraine and called to return to the diplomatic dialogue.

PM Skerrit mentioned, “We call for a return to diplomatic dialogue, in an effort to stop the ongoing crisis. We reaffirm our commitment to the principles of respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity of all states.”

This statement was released by the government of Dominica after Russia invaded its neighbouring nation- Ukraine.

As per the Russia-Ukraine latest update: More than 198 Ukrainian people, including three children, have been killed by the Russian soldiers, as a result of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, according to the statics shared by the Ukraine Health Ministry.

The ministry further stated that around 33 children, along with 1,115 people, had been severely wounded due to this attack.

Russia attacked Ukraine on February 24 (Thursday), and on February 26 (Saturday), Russian troops have captured the south-eastern Ukrainian city of Melitopol as Moscow launched coordinated cruise missile and artillery strikes on several cities, including the capital Kyiv.

On the same day, Ukrainian foreign minister Kuleba demanded to fully isolate Russia. The tweet by the foreign minister read, “I demand the world: fully isolate Russia, expel ambassadors, oil embargo, ruin its economy”.
