Pink shoes I have are very shiny one, says PM Skerrit at Salybia candidate launch

Dominica Labour Party launched its candidate for Salybia Constituency on Sunday. Cozier Fredrick’s launch event had a massive mass gathering from all across the island. People coloured in red gathered in full enthusiasm to showcase their support for the Dominica Labour Party.
However, Salybia which comes under the Kalinago territory is an important constituency for the political parties to get a hold on.
Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit addressed the public by referring to Cozier Fredrick as a young bright man, who has a very wide perspective on national, regional and international issues.
Skerrit said all the primary requirements and concerns of the Kalinago people are known to the DLP, and we have chosen a candidate who can uplift the constituency with his vision of development.
PM also said that he is encouraged by the recent election of a young man as the Kalinago Chief and together these two can work in tandem to move the interests of the Kalinago people and take the constituency forward.
Dr Skerrit emphasised on developing the tourism in the constituency, he said, “I have made clear to the emerging hotel developers that I want Salybia to feature prominently in the development of their individual and collective tourism offerings.”
“I want the unique history and cultures of the Kalinago people to be brought forward and promoted in a positive light, so we can have some more social and economic activity in the constituency.” said Skerrit
Prime Minister recalled the moment of Hurricane Maria he said,“when two years ago we faced the same situation as what is being faced by Bahamas today, Labour brought food, clothing and provided shelter, there were no members of the opposition UWP anywhere on the scene of the territory.”
Prime Minister also made an important announcement he said, “I am not fearful of these upcoming general elections, I am satisfied that the people of Dominica are up in vast majority in supporting Labour and appreciating the efforts of the Dominica Labour Party.”
“The campaign team of the Labour party and the managers told me that I can go on and announce the date of elections whenever I feel so.” added PM Skerrit.
In addition to this he also said, “The pink shoes I have are very shiny ones and glossy ones, you cannot miss those pink shoes. Soon, my people, you will see my pink shoes on my facebook.”
During his launch event Cozier Fredrick wore a red shirt with a traditional print, not only that he was also accompanied by men dressed up in their traditional attire.
After acknowledging all the dignitaries, Fredrick thanked his family for holding his back by making their presence during the event. During his speech, Fredrick recalled the moment of the 1970s when the territory got its first guest house, and he emphasised on tourism in the area.
Fredrick also gave examples of some of the entrepreneurs in the constituency who are doing hard to get on their feet, he said, “These entrepreneurs must succeed in achieving their goals because their success is our success.”
In addition to that, he said, “we need economic development and education plays a significant role in achieving it we will establish a smart centre in the constituency which will provide satellite services of the Dominica State College.”
Cozier Fredrick said that agriculture has been a breadroot for the people of the territory, and he made major announcements to improve the agriculture system in the area if he succeeds in the upcoming general elections, he said, “Agriculture is an important source of income for the people and we must use scientific measures to improve it, and this year's budget also have a remuneration of 500 hundred thousand dollars for the agriculture in the constituency.”
