Melissa Skerrit visits a century old structure in Roseau Central
Parliament Representative from Roseau Central Melissa Skerrit showcased her efforts to renovate the traditional architecture of Dominica.

She stated that maintaining traditional architecture is of paramount importance to her and the idea gave her the impetus to carefully reconstruct private homes in the city.

Sharing images on her social media accounts, Melissa Skerrit stated that she visited a 100-year-old structure in Roseau to assess ongoing rehabilitation works.

The structure is a private residence that suffered severe damages during Hurricane Maria, which resulted in the collapse of the first floor.

She stated that during the rebuilding process, the new roof was reinforced with stronger timber lumbers and hurricane ties in accordance with the newly established building codes for these structures. Construction and renovation works are still ongoing on the project.

Earlier, on April 16, she visited Virgin Lane in a bid to sensitize the residents of the impending resurfacing works on the footpath project.

The footpath project aims at constructing three different footpaths in an effort to provide improved access and lighting to the constituents' homes. The idea for this Footpath Project was generated during her many visits to this location during the previous election period. Developmental projects across the Roseau Central constituency continues; another such project is La Promenade.

Melissa Skerrit states that there is now added comfort of full coverage from the rain and sun, free accessible WIFI while people can enjoy the extended hours this new amenity allows.

The entrepreneurs are now able to remain open much longer during the day as they and their customers are no longer at the mercy of the scorching sun or stinging rain, stated Melissa Skerrit.

It seems like Mrs Skerrit is taking her duties very seriously as this is her first term as a parliament representative. Her efforts to make new projects boom in the constituency could be seen on her social media accounts where she often share updates of what is going around in the Roseau Central constituency.
