Al-Jazeera's documentary of Caribbean's alleged passport scandal has created a hustle in the people of Dominica. The media organisation has presented corruption allegations on both, Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit and leader of opposition Lennox Linton. As per Al-Jazeera, these two leaders are involved in selling the diplomatic passports of Commonwealth of Dominica.

In the almost an hour-long documentary, the allegations on Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit are purely based on the version of Malaysian businessman Manoj Bhullar.

Who is Manoj Bhullar?

Manoj Bhullar is a Malaysian businessman who runs a Marine business, besides this Bhullar was a long-time best friend and business partner to Ali Reza Monfared an Iranian businessman based in Malaysia and past holder of Dominican diplomatic passport. Monfared is currently serving a long term in an Iranian jail in the case of money embezzlement.

As per Masinthecemetery.com, In 2015 Manoj Bhullar was detained by Royal Malaysian Police (RMP) in accusations of a kidnapping case.

Bhullar is the same individual who helped Monfared in selling Iranian oil when it was banned under the U.S sanctions. While Bhullar maintained the marine department, Monfared used to count on cash.

Monfared and Bhullar's family were known to each other for several years and travelled to Panama together. Their visit to this Caribbean island was the beginning of Monfared's interest in the diplomatic passport and immunity.

After Monfared and Bhullar had a difference in interests, Bhullar chose to part his ways from him and started to focus on earning money.

Notwithstanding, Bhullar was wretched with Ali's behaviour after getting a diplomatic passport. As per Bhullar's response to Al-Jazeera, Ali Monfared wanted to be referred to as "His Excellency" instead of Ali after his diplomacy status.

Manoj says that he had the opportunity to obtain a Dominican Diplomatic Passport but fancied Ali to have one and denied the offer for himself.

The second half of the documentary:

Al- Jazeera's investigative coverage takes an unexpected turn when the former Prime Minister Oliver Seraphine tells the passport buyer that PM Skerrit has declined to give Diplomatic Passport but he has convinced opposition leader Lennox Linton in selling a diplomatic passport if he manages to win the upcoming general elections.

Al-Jazeera showcased the MoU signed by Lennox Linton where he promises to sale a Dominican Diplomatic passport for a sum of $USD 400,000 to a Philippine-based businessman.

Not only that, Al-Jazeera also presented the voice recording of Lennox Linton's lawyer and his right-hand David Bruney.

Bruney is the most trustworthy to Lennox Linton and Linton have not yet denied over the allegations of singing MoU and voice recording proof presented by the media organisation.

In the audio recording, Bruney agrees to the passport buyer and says Lennox Linton trusts what he says and he is the voice of Lennox.

David Bruney is an Attorney at Law and runs David Bruney Chambers in Portsmouth, Dominica.

Al- Jazeera's documentary struggled to prove the allegations on Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit as the international media organisation has only one testimony against all the allegations against Skerrit who is Mr Bhullar. Moreover, Manoj Bhullar's testimony can not be referred to as a piece of credible information as he betrayed his best friend and business partner. After backstabbing his own best friend Bhullar chose to remain silent for an extended period and came out only when his associations with Monfared in his business were no longer fruitful for him.

For a more lengthened period, Bhullar relished the affluent lifestyle with Monfared accomplished by selling the Iranian oil when it was under U.S sanctions. As soon as difference arose between both, Bhullar back stepped to secure himself. There can be also a situation where, Bhullar can not be trusted is the factor of revenge from Monfared.

On the other hand, David Bruney is still the right hand of Lennox Linton, and two of them have not denied any of the allegations imposed on them.

Leader of opposition, Lennox Linton himself apologised to people on his radio show for signing off a document to sale the asset of the nation without being in the jurisdiction of doing so.

The audio recording of David Bruney and signed document attested by Lennox Linton are enough shreds of evidence to justify the allegations on the leader of the opposition. Furthermore, Lennox Linton was against the government's legal procedure of selling citizenships while he himself could not stand real to his words and did the absolute contradiction by signing an MoU.
