Makeover on the cards as Dominica underway to open seaside hotels

Seaside hotels to brace the Dominica and empower country towards better tourism

Tuesday, 9th July 2019

Roseau, Caribbean countries often face severe consequences of climate change. In the year 2017 Hurricane Maria devastated the region by hitting countries like Antigua, Barbados, St. Martin, and Dominica. After two years of the hurricane, these countries are struggling to rebuild themselves, whereas it seems like achieving its development goals going to be the toughest part of the government. After the hurricane destroying the country a large number of people migrated to other places. To call these people home the government is generating new hopes for the public.

Throughout Dominica, new construction work in progress can be clearly seen as the government is building free homes for the citizens, along with that international hotels are being built to facilitate the tourists coming from all across the globe. Not only just that, but Jungle Bay hotel is also reopened which was destroyed by landslides caused by tropical storm Erika on August 27th, 2015, leaving 65 persons jobless as a result.

While addressing a public meeting, Prime Minister of Dominica Roosevelt Skerrit said: “Marriot hotel with more than 133 rooms is under construction, along with that the government is also proposing to increase hotel ‘Secret Bay’ with 42 villas”. These steps by the government will increase employment opportunities for people. However, Dominica is taking help of the CBI (citizenship by investment) programme to get the job done. While addressing a meeting in St. Johns, PM also offered the Dominican citizens living in that part to participate and grab these opportunities in the country.

The countries which suffered the devastation of natural calamity and the season hits the Caribbean brace themselves for the all too real possibility that homes, possessions, and communities might be swept away with the water flow. Robust hurricane-resistant houses create a powerful line of defense in the wake of natural catastrophe. Utilizing a host of distinct design feature which ultimately offers safer, stronger and more durable dwelling to weather the storm or nature does its worst.

However, one of the best places in Dominica, Secret Bay features is its stamp of approval under Dominica’s citizenship by investment (CBI) programme. It is evident in the history that since 1990s, highly-vetted and global people and their kin have been able to secure second citizenship by investing into Dominica’s economy with a monitory contribution, which aims the development of the country.
