A 15-year-old male student of Irwin High School in St James, Jamaica, was stabbed to death by another student outside of the school gate. The brutal incident took place on Thursday afternoon, with the deceased being identified as Raniel Plummer.
According to the reports, Plummer and another student, Javon Myrie, aged 14, got into an altercation while at school. Around 3 pm, the victim was approached by the student who, along with a group of boys, allegedly attacked him.
It was also reported that a knife was used to stab Plummer in the chest during the argument, and the victim was subsequently rushed to the Cornwall Regional Hospital.
Plummer succumbed to his injuries while being treated at the hospital. The students and teachers at the school are in mourning following the brutal incident which transpired outside the school premises.
The school authorities are also providing counseling sessions to grieving students while teachers are conducting continuous meetings.
Meanwhile, police officials in Jamaica have declined to comment about the 14-year-old who reportedly stabbed the minor, but it is being said that he is presently in custody.
The Jamaica Teachers Association, JTA, has condemned the murder of 15-year-old Irwin High student Raniel Plummer. JTA President Leighton Johnson, in denouncing the incident, said the nation should not tolerate these situations.
On the other hand, the victim's mother has also said that she is struggling to cope with her son's death. She said that she doesn’t know how she will live without her son, and she feels as if her heart is coming out.
She added that the doctors told her that the knife went deep into Raniel's heart, which is why he could not be saved.
The citizens and residents of the country are also expressing their deep condolences to the family and friends of the victim.
"I feel your pain. I don't know what I would do, but I'm asking God to please give you the strength," said Majorie while addressing his mother, while another user said, "I am so very sorry for your loss; rest in eternal peace raniel, Lord, please send down some comfort for raniel mummy. sending my sincere deepest condolences."
