Government will make investment in music education in schools of Dominica: PM Roosevelt Skerrit

Prime Minister noted that the music and entertainment industry both are very significant source of employment for young people and government will make investments in music education in schools of the country.

The recent episode of Anou Palay- a weekly broadcast show of Dominican Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit went on air on Sunday where he talked to three famous people from the entertainment industry of the country.

Prime Minister was joined by Normal Letang- Founder of Swinging Stars, Asa Banton-Bouyon Artist, Jeoffrey Joseph- Manager Triple Kay Brand.

Prime Minister noted that the music and entertainment industry both are very significant source of employment for young people and government will make investments in music education in schools of the country.

He added that there are more scholarships available for students than ever.

"In schools, we have to invest in choirs and music education," added the Prime Minister on Sunday.

He added that music is a vast business and Dominica has the talent that is comparable to many parts of the world. He stated that some people in Dominica pioneers in various music genres.

The Dominican Prime Minister applauded entertainers across the world for their efforts to keep people entertained at their homes even during the pandemic lockdowns. "As we contend with COVID-19, our entertainers are operating within severe constraints, and their livelihoods have also been impacted."

Furthermore, Dr Skerrit stated that the reason for inviting these three entertainers to his show was to understand their outlook for the entertainment industry in Dominica.

Prime Minister also stated that more training and guidance is still required when it comes to musical engineering and production; however, he said that by working together all these things could be easily achieved.
