Government confirms its support of St Lucia Stars
First match in Caribbean Premier League to be played in St Lucia

The government of St Lucia has confirmed its support for the St Lucia Stars ahead of the new Caribbean Premier League season.
Dominic Fedee, minister with responsibility for tourism, information and broadcasting expressed his excitement once again to support the league and tea, in hoisting the first match at the Darren Sammy Cricket Ground.
Fedee said that all contracts and commitments would be signed in the upcoming weeks.
Barry Corcoran form the Caribbean Premier League thanked the government for their support.
He added that he was looking forward to seeing the St Lucia Stars – formerly the St Lucia Zouks – in action.
The team, who boast players such as Shane Watson, Andre Fletcher and Lasith Malinga, are owned by Philadelphia-based Jay Pandya of Royal Sports Club.
Captain Darren Sammy, Johnson Charles and Keddy Lesporis are the St Lucian players leading the squad.
Paynda said he expects this year’s matches – in particular the ones held in St Lucia – to be filled with “fun, excitement, and superb cricket”.
The new season begins on 4 August.
