According to Educational Minister Dr Gale Rigobery, the overdue reopening of some of the schools on the island has been indicated to COVID-19.
The new school year began on September 7, 2020, under strict protocols and guidelines to protect against the spread of COVID-19.
Rigobert said, "We have come to understand that some schools may need an additional day or two."
The Bishop Charles Gachet RC Primary School, Mon Repos/Patience, Dennery Primary, La Ressource Combined, and the Ave Maria Girls' School will reopen on Wednesday, September 9. Education Minister added, "things happened a lot slower this summer with respect to school rehabilitation. I would not attempt to attribute blame to any person, agency, or being except to say specifically because of COVID-19."
Ave Maria Girls' School Principal Valerie St Helen told to sources that, "the conclusion to reopen the Ave Maria Girls' School on Wednesday 9 September, was to safeguard the health and safety of staff and students. The parents should understand this move as we value the safety of our girls, especially during this period of uncertainty. We are looking forward to welcoming our girls who are scheduled to come in on Wednesday. As our motto states, 'Each Task Well Done', and this we will ensure as we begin on September 9."
The Entrepot Secondary, Monchy Combined, and Les Etangs Combined will reopen on Monday, September 14.
