Prime Minister of Dominica, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit was accorded a warm welcome by members of the Dominican community in the land of neighbouring French island, Guadeloupe on Sunday evening.
People of Guadeloupe gathered in a large number to showcase their support to Prime Minister Skerrit by wearing the DLP symbolic ‘Red T-shirts’.
PM started his speech by greeting the people in French/Creole and went ahead by promoting his Dominica Labour Party and its achievements of the past nineteen years.
Leader directly targeted opposition United Workers Party (UWP) by referring them to a party of no vision, he said “What brings development in the country is vision and hope and that is what the Dominica Labour Party is providing to the people of Dominica. But the only thing the opposition is giving to Dominica is an attack on me but attacking me will not bring development to our nation.”
Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to Guadeloupe and its people for their support and help during the shattering days of Erika and Hurricane Maria.
He said Dominica will never forget the help and support given by the neighbouring Island during tough times.
“Dominica has come a long way after the hurricane and nobody can imagine that it is the same country that was flattened by the natural catastrophe two years ago, we are moving Dominica forward in means of healthcare, infrastructure as well as education,” added Skerrit.
In his long extempore, the leader went ahead by striking over the United Workers Party and said that the opposition has never been helpful to people in the days of Hurricane. He said “Dominica Labour Party has been helping the people without any help from the worker's party because they don’t love people and care as DLP does. But UWP does not care about how the people live and how they wake up which shows their obvious carelessness and lack.”
