Belize: Cop forces female prisoner into sex for release, lands behind bars
Belize: A police officer is presently behind bars after he allegedly threatened a woman into having sex with him for her release from the Queen Street Police Station.

According to the information, on Friday, a 45-year-old police constable, Derwin Marin, was on duty at the cell block of the precinct when the incident took place.

The reports added that Matin asked for sexual favors from a female prisoner who was detained and was pending charges of crack pipe possession and assault.

Marin reportedly took the female out of the holding cell to an area in the police station, where he forced her to perform sexual acts.

As soon as the woman reported the incident, it was dealt with swiftly, and by Saturday, Marin was charged and behind bars.

On Monday morning, the cop was arranged on a single charge of rape in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court, where Police Commissioner Chester Williams prosecuted the incident and pushed for the officer’s remand.

The Commissioner outlined, “I came to object to bill because we believe that the Ark is such, that the police officers need to remain in prison until the matter is heard. As I said before, we have been doing our best to make sure that we rid ourselves of those rogue officers who constantly do things that embarrass the department.”

He added that his presence in the court is a strong statement that they are doing everything they can to ensure that persons who are aggrieved by the actions of police get justice.

According to Officer Williams, the investigation revealed that the police officer solicited sex from her in exchange for her release. He said that this was proved by several statements and video footage that support the female prisoner’s allegations.

The Commissioner wanted to make sure that the people who are responsible for maintaining law and order should not be the ones to commit offenses.
