Barbados begins booster shots of COVID-19 vaccine for people aged over 70

Barbados initiates roll out of Oxford AstraZeneca Covishield booster shots under the National Vaccination Programme against the COVID-19 pandemic.

St George: Barbados initiates roll out of Oxford AstraZeneca Covishield booster shots under the National Vaccination Programme against the COVID-19 pandemic. The drive will begin from October 21, 2021.

During initial period, the booster shot will be given to persons who are fully vaccinated and are over the age of 70; and those persons who are immunocompromised and have received their second jab of vaccine before the end of April 2021. The booster shots will be given at the Masonic Centre at Salters, St George and booster shots are also available at all other vaccination sites which are currently providing vaccination to general public.

Several vaccination sites will open across the island today, Thursday, October 21. The venues and running times are scheduled below:

Vaccination Centres:

Eunice Gibson Polyclinic at Warrens, St. Michael – Timing - 9 am to 4:30 pm.

Princess Margaret Secondary School at Six Roads, St. Philip – Timing - 9:30 am to 2:30 pm.

Mile-and-a-Quarter Seventh Day Adventist Church at Mile-and-a-Quarter, St. Peter – Timing 10 am to 4 pm.

Masonic Centre at Salters, St. George – timing - 10 am to 4:30 pm.

Building No.2 Harbour Industrial Park at St. Michael – timing - 10 am to 6 pm.
