58-year-old man found dead in Gros Islet
Saint Lucia: A 58-year-old man was reportedly found lying motionless on the main road at Bonne Terre, Gros Islet, on Tuesday afternoon

As per officials, the man is identified as Eric Jean Harris and is a resident of Gros-Islet constituency.
The body was first encountered by the locals, who found the man unresponsive, lying on the road with some apparent gunshot injuries on his body.Further, on receiving the calls from residents, the Emergency Medical Technicians from Saint Lucia Fire Service also immediately reached the location and tried various ways to revive the victim. However, after a continued period of attempts, they announced the individual dead.
The authorities have been closely investigating the case and are trying to collect evidence from the eyewitnesses.
Meanwhile, the police officials have also appealed to people to inform them immediately if they have any information about this critical ongoing case and the Victim.People are also directed to report the information at their nearest police stations if any evidence or necessary information is found.
Notably, this is the fifth Homicide added to the list of 2024 in Saint Lucia. Another incident was recorded earlier on Dauphin Street earlier on Monday.
The victim was identified as Canice Felicien, a twenty-seven-year-old (27) resident of Notre Dame Street, Gros-Islet. Meanwhile, on reaching the crime spot, the authorities declared the body dead. A major investigation into the case is still ongoing.
As per community people, the government is not taking the matter seriously. Some also expressed dismay and their thoughts and opinions via social media handles.
"The reality is that homicides are happening too frequently for a small nation-state; what are we doing about it? Neither am I aligned to or part of any political party. It's just concerning what's happening on this little rock. There is little evidence of law enforcement and no one in control, so the people do as they please. For instance, check out what's happening on our roads. No traffic laws are adhered to, thus putting people's lives at risk," a user wrote while expressing his thoughts.
