UNICEF delivers 6000 gallons of fuel to 3 hospitals in Haiti

UNICEF's Chief Communications officer to Haiti said that the organization delivered 6,000 gallons of fuel to three major hospitals. Ndiaga Seck told the media that more supplies are also expected as turmoil increases in Haiti.

He said the assistance was made possible despite the gang and other criminal disabilities in Haiti.

Hundreds of hospitals across the country are suffering, as the country is running out of fuel. Criminal gangs blocked the major roads leading to ports holding fuel supplies.

Thousands of children and women are at risk as the fuel supplies decrease across Haiti.

UNICEF recently came in contact with a local firm to provide around 10,000 gallons of fuel to four major hospitals in Port-of-Prince. The organization promises to deliver more support as its efforts to help children access clean water after the August 2021 earthquake snatched away from their fundamental rights.

The earthquake killed more than 2,000 people and damaged hundreds of homes, making thousands homeless in a blink of an eye.

Haiti is witnessing a worse crisis after President Jovenel Moise was shot dead at his residence in July 2021. Now, the gangs are demanding justice and keeping major roadways hindered.

Some gangs are also asking Prime Minister Ariel Henry to resign as the country enters critical political instability.
