A local court has found that the accused is identified as Sandor Cs, who deliberately laid in front of a train so just to put the money in his pocket in 2014, the local news outlet Blikk reported.
The shocking incident meant that his legs were amputated from the knee and that he used prosthetic limbs and has since been confined to a wheelchair.
The report said that the 54-year-old man, a resident of the Hungarian village of Nyircsaszari, is said to have climbed onto the rails so that a train could run over his two legs.
Suspicions were first raised when authorities were informed of the fact that the accused had taken out 14 high-risk life insurance policies in the year leading up to the incident.During investigations, Sandor Cs said that he only took the insurances based on the financial advice that the return is much higher on insurance policies than saving accounts.
After the incident, his wife demanded payment, but the insurance companies refused to pay because they suspected the man had himself inflicted the injury.
A court has sentenced the man to 2 years in jail and ordered him to pay
£4,725 in legal fees. The ruling comes seven years after Sandor Cs lost his legs.
