Government of Commonwealth of Dominica organised a Coronavirus Consultation conference, where the Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit asked all Dominicans to come together to fight back the COVID-19.

Prime Minister Dr Skerrit stated that the cabinet has decided to appoint Ms Jennifer Astaphan an overall National Coordinator. At the same time, Dr Irvin McIntyre will serve as the National Coordinator of Logistics to ensure every precaution is in place. Besides this membership of National Task Force is announced to be expanded.

PM Skerrit also asked the people to follow the instructions of the Health Ministry regularly.

Also, Dr Skerrit added that he is aware of the fact that trade unions in Dominica are in anger as government officials were supposed to witness a contract signing which concerned the fundings for the repair of Marigot and Roseau Fisheries Complexes. However, the visit was cancelled due to COVID 19.

"When we made the announcement four months ago, there was no COVID-19, but the officials are not able to travel to Japan because of this virus, and I understand trade unions are in anger, but as for now, we all need to come together to fight back the virus," added PM.

Prime Minister added that Dominica would have to grapple Coronavirus or Dominica will sink under it.

Furthermore, the leader stated that the government is in touch with the Pan American Health Organisation (PAHO) on a daily basis. "I believe we cannot overreact or act so early, and we are in touch with PAHO on a daily basis." added the leader.

"This is time for us to hold each other's hand tightly as we walk through this extra-ordinary circumstances."

Besides this, Prime Minister stated that small island nations like Dominica are under serious threat, and if the Miami Port closes, there would be a severe shortage of food and essential supplies.

Dr Skerrit expressed his concerns about the extreme shortage of hand sanitizers and toilet papers in any market in the state of Florida.
