Dominica PM announces further $600,000 for Good Hope
Infrastructure and business will be given a boost
Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit told a town hall meeting in Good Hope that his government had significant investment plans for the community.
A fund of $400,000 will immediately be made available for house repair assistance, with Skerrit telling residents that his government was currently being asked for $785,000 towards repairs.
But the remainder of the money would be provided following the passage of the 2017/2018 budget in the next few weeks, he added.
Business and farmers
During the meeting, Skerrit reflected on the government's ongoing plans for pit toilets – including total eradication by the end of 2017.
He said that of the 45 washrooms to be constructed in Good Hope, the first 20 have now be completed, and announced that building work on the remaining 25 would now commence.
Skerrit also announced that he was making available $200,000 for small business development but that he wants $100,000 of that amount to be made available to farmers.
Balata farm access road will be getting a makeover with a funding injection of $160,000, the prime minister said.
