State funeral to take place for Edward Registe today

The body of the late John Fitzgerald Edward Registe is laid in state at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium earlier on Tuesday. The officials said the body continued to lie in state at the Montine Playing Field and at the Grand Bay Catholic Church Grounds. On Wednesday, the public can also visit the Conference Center of the State House to make last visits.

The state funeral will be held on Wednesday October 20, 2021

Edward Registe died on September 1, 2021, at the age of 50, due to sudden cardiac arrest. He was the Parliamentary Representative for the Grand Bay Constituency and Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Business and Diaspora Relations.

The sudden demise of Edward Registe left everyone in shock, and the last rites were delayed due to the ongoing outbreak of coronavirus in Dominica.

The country is also observing three days of mourn, and the flag will be flown at half-mast during the period.

He had been associated with the Dominica Labour Party for most of his life. In 2014, Registe was appointed as the party Senator and Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly of Dominica.

He devoted his life to the people of Dominica. Registe was also a community and church leader who served as the President of the Catholic Youth Movement in Grand Bay.
