Dominica: Minister Edward Registe passes away on Wednesday morning

Member of Parliament for the Grand Bay Constituency Edward Registe passed away on Wednesday morning. As per reports, he died due to a heart attack.

Registe was appointed as the Minister for State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Business and Diaspora Relations with special responsibility for Diaspora Relations.

Prime Minister of Dominica Dr Roosevelt Skerrit also shared a message of condolences.

Edward Registe was known for his work in the field. He had been associated with the Dominica Labour Party for many years. In 2014, he was appointed as the Senator of the Dominica Labour Party.

He also served as the Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly of Dominica. Registe was also the former General Secretary of Dominica Labour Party.

In 2019, Edward Registe contested elections for the first time and achieved great success from the Grand Bay constituency. He was designated as the Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Business and Diaspora Relations, with Specific responsibility for Diaspora Relations in the Roosevelt Skerrit Administration on 17 December 2019.

People are shocked by the sudden passing of Registe. The social media was flooded with messages of condolences from all over Dominica and the diaspora. People recalled him as a parliament representative with the most powerful voice.
