Dominica: The construction and the development of the International Airport of Dominica have been commenced in Wesley village and progressing at an incredible pace. The leading development company Montreal Management Consultants Establishment (MMCE), is working on the project. More than Sixty-three acres of land is already cleared in Wesley for the construction. It is expected that the airport will be completed by 2024, and the first flight will likely take off in 2025. With global connectivity, people will get to see the beautiful "Dominica-the hidden gem in the Caribbean." The International Airport is the most awaited project for Dominica, and with MMCE, the dreams are coming into reality for people who waited for generations to get easy air connectivity to the island.

The construction will improve Dominica's connectivity to other countries, which will boost the economy. Dominica received around 140,000 tourists despite COVID-19 travel challenges in 2020. After the completion of the project, the nation expects more foreign travellers and to see more tourists by this initiative.


During the contract signing ceremony, Prime Minister of Dominica, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, said, "The international airport project has been at the forefront of development talks for over three decades; the government went through conducting various studies and finalized Wesley as the ideal location ."

The International Airport will be capable of accomodating long haul commercial and cargo flights from across the world.

As per Dr Anthony Haiden, CEO of MMCE, "This international airport is the biggest contracted undertaking not only in the history of Dominica but also in the history of the region,".
"The most sophisticated methods developed in the construction industry will be applied, and the result will be the best airport in the region. Its successful completion and subsequent operation will have a transcending effect on the country and will literally reshape the future of Dominica," Dr Anthony Haiden, CEO of MMCE.

The Citizenship by Investment Programme has fully financially contributed to the project. The estimated cost of the airport is nearly 1 billion Eastern Caribbean dollars; it will be constructed in five phases, unfolding numerous opportunities for people.

Economic Diversification Fund (EDF) option under the Citizenship by Investment Programme is helping rebuild the country. It funds public and private sector projects in Dominica to stimulate economic growth and promote the country's social and financial advancement.

While Real Estate option contributed to the Construction of Five-Star Eco-Resorts and helped strengthen the hospitality industry, which will experience an expansion with International Airport. Also, the international airport will help the Caribbean island nation towards economic diversification.

On the other hand, 31 houses are being built for families who have given up their property for the International Airport. The Government of Dominica is not forcing any tax load on the residents. The enhanced air travel facility will help to stimulate economic growth and alleviate poverty by creating jobs, boosting tax revenues and promoting the conservation of protected areas.
