British High Commissioner receives cordial welcome upon arrival in Dominica

British High Commissioner to Barbados & the Eastern Caribbean and his delegation reached Dominica on Tuesday. H.E. Scott Furssedonn-Wood received a cordial welcome on arrival in the country.
High Commissioner Wood is currently on an official visit to Dominica. As per reports, he would be visiting Kalinago Territory and Portsmouth and exploring new areas of collaboration islandwide.
During the first day of the visit, the British High Commissioner met President Charles Savarin and Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit.
Their discussions focused on a raft of key issues, including climate change.
PM Skerrit said that Dominica is pleased to welcome Scott Furssedonn-Wood. He wrote, "Dominica is pleased to welcome H.E. @UKScottFW MVO - British High Commissioner to Barbados & the Eastern Caribbean and his delegation, who are on an official visit to our island. We look forward to fruitful discussions over the next four days."

Talking about Dominica's goal of achieving climate resilience, the British High Commissioner said Britain is proud to be supporting Dominica's vision to become a resilient climate nation. "Thank you Prime Minister @SkerritR for inviting me to attend Cabinet in Dominica today. This was Scott Furssedonn-Wood's first official visit as High Commissioner to Dominica. He had earlier visited the island country in 2017 with the Prince of Wales in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria. Discussing his previous visit, Wood said he remembers the extraordinary resilience of people who suffered so much, "Their determination to rebuild their lives. Not to be beaten, despite losing everything". Furthermore, he added that the U.K. has stood with the people of Dominica since Maria. "We deployed military, police and humanitarian experts to help with the recovery. And we have committed nearly USD $100m to help the island become the first #climate resilient nation in the world," added the British High Commissioner.Latest
