UNC grabs the chance to defame PM Rowley as US restricts travel to Trinidad & Tobago

The government and opposition of Trinidad and Tobago are faces to face in an oral fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. Both parties are daily publishing press releases to prove one another wrong. Similarly, a new statement has been released by the opposition United National Congress. UNC has again questioned the ability of governance of Prime Minister Keith Rowley and stated that he had created a health and criminal disaster in the country. The opposition party stated that the United States of America had downgraded Trinidad and Tobago's Travel Status from Level 3 ("Reconsider Travel") to Level 4 ("Do Not Travel").

"Do not travel to Trinidad and Tobago due to restricted travel options put in place to prevent COVID-19. Exercise increased caution in Trinidad and Tobago due to crime, terrorism, and kidnapping. Some areas have increased risk. They warned Violence and shootings occur regularly in some areas of Port of Spain." stated United National Congress.

United National Congress alleged that specifically, the US Government has advised its citizens not to travel to some areas, including Laventille, whose MPs are PNM's Fitzgerald Hinds and Adrian Leonce), Beetham (MP Fitzgerald Hinds), Sea Lots (MP Keith Scotland), Cocorite (MP Symon de Nobriga), and the interior of Queen's Park Savannah in Port of Spain (MP Stuart Young) due to crime. "US government personnel are prohibited from travelling to those areas at all, and also to downtown Port of Spain (MP Keith Scotland) and Fort George overlook (MP Symon de Nobriga) after dark", stated UN.

The opposition stated that the above mentioned all areas have been ruled by the People's National Movement continuously since 1956 up to today -- 65 years of dereliction of duty and abuse of trust. UNC said the areas include seats held by the current Minister of National Security and the (recently) former Minister of National Security.

"We need to connect these dots and correct our actions to save our country. If Keith Rowley, Fitzgerald Hinds, and Stuart Young have failed so spectacularly to provide security for the people of Port of Spain and Cocorite after 65 years of rule, then it is impossible for them to now provide safety and security for Trinidad and Tobago as a whole." added the United Nation governments.

Furthermore, UNC stated that the appointment of Fitzgerald Hinds to lead the Ministry of National Security is the latest slap in the face to the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago.

Nevertheless, the opposition referred to PNM as a government creating disorder and lawlessness that destroys not only the physical security and lives of our citizens but also our economy and livelihoods.

"This is the total opposite of what other governments are doing in our neighbouring Caribbean islands. While the US instructs its citizens "DO NOT TRAVEL" to Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados and Grenada are opening up to vaccinated travellers." added UNC.
