St Kitts and Nevis: The Port Zante in St Kitts welcomed four cruises of different sizes simultaneously on Sunday. The cruises that docked included the Mein Schiff 4, Grandeur of the Seas, Explora 1, and Vision of the Seas.

The island welcomed over 8000 passengers aboard these four cruises as the Mein Schiff 4 holds a passenger capacity of 2506; Grandeur of the Seas brought around 2446 passengers, while the Explora 1 and Vision of the Seas brought 922 and 2514 people, respectively.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Denzil Douglas, announced the development and said, "Tourism is Back," while adding, "Today, our beautiful paradise island welcomes 4 Cruise. Hoping stakeholders will benefit tremendously."

Most of the passengers came ashore and went on sight-seeing tours in Basseterre and island-wide via the St Kitts Scenic Railway, buses or taxis.

Hundreds also headed for Brimstone Hill, sea and sunbathing on the beaches, snorkelling, sailing to Nevis, horseback riding, golfing, casino gambling, shopping and biking while others took time to surf the internet and make contact with friends and family.

The steady visit of cruise ships to St Kitts' Port Zante will continue this week with two cruises on Wednesday and four cruises on Friday. The arrival of all these luxurious cruises to the twin island nation marks a huge milestone as it is giving a significant push to the cruise tourism season. Even the largest cruise in the world, Icon of the Seas, has made two calls to the island. This month, the island will receive a total of 54 cruise calls, with most of the passengers anticipated to indulge in organised tours.

In addition to this, the citizens and residents also lauded the Tourism Ministry for collaborating with several international cruise liners and bringing so many passengers to St Kitts and Nevis.

"It's a beautiful thing in the lives of those in need mostly for daily bread," wrote a user named Livingstone Buchanan, while another user named Naomi Harris said, "Enjoying the Ships that sail in our Beautiful Island."
