The Team Unity administration proposes to spend $772.9 million in 2019 to support the implementation of various programmes and projects intended "to improve the delivery of public service, contribute to increasing growth in our economy, and improve the lives of all the people of St. Christopher and Nevis," Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris said today, Wednesday, December 12th, 2018.
Delivering his 2019 Budget Address at a sitting of the National Assembly, the Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis also said, "This budget debate must be about how we are enhancing the quality of life for the ordinary people."
Prime Minister Harris went on to note that, "This budget, then, is about how we sustain the growth and prosperity that is happening in our country – and everyone is marveling about it."
The Honourable Prime Minister added, "I marvel and reflect now how right the Team Unity Government is for St. Kitts and Nevis."
Today, as he did yesterday during the well-received opening ceremony for the East Line Bus Terminal, Prime Minister Harris mentioned the effusive compliments and enthusiasm emanating from citizens both at home and abroad in response to the aesthetic lighting initiatives in the heart of Basseterre.
The Prime Minister then pointed out that his administration is not merely making cosmetic improvements in the country but, more importantly, it is impacting the lives of citizens and residents on a personal and substantive level.
"Our Government is particularly proud to reflect on the record achievements since taking the reins of government in February 2015. The impact of the various policy initiatives, programmes and projects of our administration has been far-reaching and is being felt throughout the communities. We have delivered solutions in many areas to improve the lives of the people. We have delivered solutions in education, in healthcare, in housing, in water, in sanitation, roads and other public infrastructure," Prime Minister Harris said.
The Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis continued, "No investment is too great. Accordingly, we will continue to invest in these areas in order to achieve our goal of sustainable and inclusive people development and our vision of shared prosperity for all citizens and residents of our beloved country."
