St Kitts-Nevis: Five charged after break-in at Island Purified Water

Officers from the criminal investigations department have arrest and charged five people over a break-in at Island Purified Water’s Basseterre facility.

The individuals have been formatted charged with building breaking and larceny after the incident, which was reported on 9 May.

Police investigations revealed that sometime during the night of 8 May the building was entered and a number of items taken, including a microwave, Samsung television and two mobile phones.

$225 of cash was also stolen.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Andre Mitchell said: "I want to commend the members of the public for providing useful information and also to commend lead investigator Detriot Henry and his team.

“He used his experience, sorted the evidence gathered and followed all leads. Today we were able to bring charges to five persons."


Who has been charged?

Crispin Crossley of Malone Avenue Dounel Gaskin of New Road Housing Project Leshawn Dore of Upper Cayon Avionics Huggins of Lower Thibou Avenue Marie Francis of Central Market Street.

"The police will continue to pursue relentlessly those persons, not only who are bent on creating injury and hurt, but also those who make a living out of depriving others of property.

"We are making progress in the investigation of these breaking offences. This arrest is the first step in bringing these five to justice and a sense of calm back to the business owner."

ACP Mitchell stressed that the police needs the continued assistance of the public.
