St. Kitts and Nevis: PM Drew pledges continued support for children’s welfare during child month

St. Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew reiterated his commitment and dedication towards creating an environment which is best for the children of St. Kitts and Nevis. He gave this statement on behalf of the Labour administration as the country commemorated the beginning of Child Month.
He also recalled a number of important policies which were introduced by his government in less than two years of assuming office.
The policies included the one-to-one laptop program, free college, increased pre-school subvention for all children, the Children’s Medical Fund, Children’s savings and financial literacy program (each child will receive $1000-$500 in savings and $500 in shares).
According to the information, the children’s savings and financial literacy program is due to commence in September 2024. All these policies have helped the children as well as their parents tremendously and is aimed at changing the overall scenario of education sector in the Federation.
PM Terrance Drew also noted, “This Labour administration is serious about the wellbeing of ALL of our children. This is arguably among the best set of policies for children’s wellbeing anywhere in the world.”
This clearly showcases the labour administration’s commitment towards easing the students in getting good quality education which will eventually be good for the future of the entire country.
Meanwhile, Minister of Education, Dr Geoffrey Hanley also addressed the nation in recognition of the June 2024 observation of Child Month.
He noted that the child month is a chance for the federation to showcase the brilliance of the little ones. This year, St. Kitts and Nevis is observing the child month under the theme embrace inclusion, every child counts.
He added that this theme is very close to his heart as every child in the country will feel valued and get the opportunity to grow into a wonderful human being.
Minister Hanley further noted that every child has a unique contribution towards the island nation which makes them indeed special which is why every individual must not overlook any child around them.
