St Kitts and Nevis: Govt announces April 12 as Discounted VAT Day to mark Easter Season

This continued tradition of VAT Day marks a major milestone and shows the Government’s dedication to fulfilling its promises and providing the people with all the benefits they can.
According to the information, all tangible items that are presently subject to 17% VAT will qualify for the discount on Discounted VAT Rate Day.The Government also announced that the items eligible for must also be available for sale and immediate issuance or delivery to the customer on Discounted VAT Rate days. “Orders for items not in stock do not quality and vehicles, guns, ammunitions, cigarettes and alcoholic beverages are not eligible,” added the administration.
In addition to this, the Government of St Kitts and Nevis is encouraging the citizens and residents to take full advantage of the VAT day on April 12. This initiative is aimed at providing financial relief to the residents and boosting economic activity amid the Easter season.
During a recent press conference, Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew announced that this decision marks a significant step in the continued support of the Government for both consumers and businesses during a time traditionally linked with increased spending. He outlined that by slashing the VAT rate from the standard 1% to 5%, the Government strives to alleviate financial burdens on citizens and ultimately bolster economic growth and stability.The Prime Minister also encouraged the businesses to actively participate in Discounted VAT Rate Day and grab the chance to attract more consumers while contributing to the nation’s economic revitalization efforts.
On behalf of the Government, PM Drew extended his gratitude to all the stakeholders for their support and cooperation in executing this initiative.
