St Kitts and Nevis and Burkina Faso signed a formal diplomatic relations and visa waiver agreement at Belgrade, Serbia

Basseterre: The Federation of St Kitts and Nevis and Burkina Faso signed a formal diplomatic relations and visa waiver agreement at Belgrade, Serbia, earlier this week.

Foreign Minister of St Kitts and Nevis and his counterpart Foreign Minister of Burkina Faso, Alpha Barry discussed the bilateral relations of both countries in the margins of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Serbia. Both leaders during the meeting discussed areas of mutual interest and cooperating in easing travel between Burkina Faso and Saint Kitts and Nevis. "Just concluded signing of formal diplomatic relations and visa waiver with my dear friend HE Alpha Barry Foreign Minister of Burkina Faso in margins of NAM summit in Belgrade," said FM Mark Brantley in his Twitter post.

Foreign Minister Mark Brantley has cultivated strong bilateral relations with countries across the world and thus far achieved a milestone for gaining the Federations with visa-free travel to a number of countries around the world, placing St Kitts and Nevis among the finest in the region.

Apart from this, the minister will be participating in NAM – A forum of 120 developing world states that are not formally aligned with or against any major power bloc. Notably, the Non-Aligned Movement is the second largest group of states worldwide following the United Nations.

Heads of state and government will represent the high-level commemorative event to mark the 60th anniversary of NAM and more than 40 ministers of foreign affairs are expected to deliver statement during this event to re-emphasise their commitment to the founding principles of NAM.
