Remotes areas in Dominica hit hard by Hurricane Maria have been given a boost by a French charity.
Electriciens sans frontieres has handed over 100 solar light kits, which will be distributed across the island.
Didier le Doeuff, representing the non-governmental organisation, handed them over to Cabinet Secretary Steve Ferrol in Dominican last week.
Mr le Dueuff, who had been in the country since 17 October, said his team were struck by the post-hurricane situation.
"We wish to thank the government for the help provided to Electriciens sans frontieres to get our materials stored, transported, and enable us to work,” he said.
“Our work starts by distributing, connecting, and installing, generators in the remote areas. Electriciens sans frontieres's work also includes distributing solar light kits to the people of these remote areas.
“We are going step by step, starting in the south area and we anticipate to move to the south east coast in the near future. We are expecting a team to replace us next week and to continue the work during November.
“Hopefully at that time everything will be installed and distributed."
Electriciens sans frontieres works across the world with the poorest communities.
The group’s aim is to improve living conditions through activities that provide people with access to electricity and water.
It relies on more than 1,000 volunteers.
