The CEO of the St Christopher Air and Sea Ports Authority (SCASPA), Denzil "Don" James, could be forced out of office Thursday, according to reliable reports.
Minister of Public Infrastructure, Post, Urban Development, Transport and Energy, Hon Ian "Patches" Liburd, who has responsible for the air and sea ports, has called a Staff meeting with employees of the quasi-government entity on Thursday afternoon.
A notice on the state=owned ZIZ Radio said all of SCAPA's operations except those at the Robert L Bradshaw International Airport will be closed to the public on Thursday afternoon.
Sources said James is on vacation and had no knowledge of the meeting. "Mr James was informed of the meeting by junior officers," several sources said Wednesday. Another source said the SCASPA chairman, Mr Don Buncamper "was not even consulted before the date of the meeting was set."
Overtime pay and extra payment have been suspended reportedly to accommodate an increase number of employees, mostly security guards.
There is also a report that staff members recently refused to work overtime last week Friday which resulted in several vehicles off loading remaining on the dock until Monday.
The controversial federal minister was recently accused of breaching security at the Robert L Bradshaw International Airport, although the breach was confirmed in writing by an officer involved, the minister has denied the breach. An investigation ordered by the Minister responsible for aviation has not been shared with the public.
Minister Liburd, who it is alleged runs the Port Authority from his ministerial office, is also alleged to have incurred expenses amounting to EC$40,000 on a single trip to Europe last year to attend a meeting, but remains silent on this and other issues in the public domain.
