St Kitts and Nevis: The twin-island nation of the Caribbean, St Kitts and Nevis implemented its vaccine deployment plan at the Newtown Dental Clinic on Monday, February 22, 2021 during a brief ceremony held as part of the Government's National COVID-19 Introduction and Awareness Campaign. Prime Minister Timothy Harris, who was one of the first among people to take the AstraZeneca/Oxford University vaccine against the deadly novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), said that although a vaccine is available, people should not let their guard down as the virus is still active. Prime Minister Timoty Harris said during his speech at the event that we feel, and we should feel proud of the achievements to date, and even if we rejoice in this important moment of the watershed, the country, in general, should be reminded that it is not over. It is not over before we have reached herd immunity; it is not over until our neighbors reach herd immunity. "Therefore, we must all continue to take the given precepts - the wearing of our masks, the hand hygiene, the physical and social distance - we must take it to heart and stick to it, even as we are expanding,"

Prime Minister Harris encouraged others to be vaccinated.

'We want everyone to come forward in his or her own interest and be vaccinated. In this way, you not only save your life, but make an effort to save those of your loved ones. So, I want to invite everyone,'' he said, adding that the vaccine is being offered for free.

Other Federal Cabinet ministers, including Deputy Prime Minister Shawn Richards and the Minister of Health et al., Akilah Byron-Nisbett, were among the more than 50 people who had to take the COVID-19 vaccine today. Besides, frontline workers, Police Commissioner Hilroy Brandy, and the National COVID-19 Taskforce members were also vaccinated.
