Recently two men were captured by police in Dominica for endangering the security of the Prime Minister and Chinese embassy by flying drones over the premises. The drone was confiscated by police officials.

The incident took place on March 4, 2021, when two YouTubers named Lynworth Mitchell and Jawanza Stuart decided to fly a drone in Morne Daniel, the same area where the embassy of the People's Republic of China and Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit's residence is situated.

The matter is now before the court in Dominica as the accused were released on bail after two days in police custody. The reason behind flying these drones remains unknown, and the police are investigating these two individuals' intentions.

Lynworth Mitchell is a popular Dominican Youtuber who runs a Mystellics Vlogs channel. His associations with the United Workers Party, the main opposition of Dominica, can be seen from the content he created during the general election in 2019. Mystellics Vlogs- mainly a travel-based channel-widely uploaded videos supporting the United Workers Party during the elections.

However, it is not clear if his actions of flying the drone over the premises of Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit and the Chinese Embassy were inspired by his political convictions.

Prime Minister Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit condemned the acts in his recent Anou Pale episode, where he stated that the government is now working on creating laws to limit drone flying in the country. He referred to this as a "dangerous practice".

He stated that drones could be carrying poisons; he stated that in Afghanistan, drones are used as bombs.

Prime Minister also took it on the leader of the opposition and took a dig at him for supporting people who endanger the security of the state. He stated that any person who aspires to be a leader of a country lacks basic leadership. He stated that Lennox Linton continues to show a "lack of leadership," and it is very unfortunate.

Furthermore, he stated that rule of law is the rule of law regardless of who the person supports politically.PM Skerrit stated that he would never encourage the actions of his supporter in wrongdoings.

Prime Minister stated that such things have never happened before; he stated opposition leaders have engaged themselves in demonstrations on national issues but not to ask for release for people who violated the law.

"This is a democracy; we respect the rule of law; under our system, a person is innocent until proven guilty, and you are allowed for due process and defend yourself." PM Roosevelt Skerrit.

Dominica currently does not have strict laws prohibiting any drone flying; however, flying a drone over the prime minister's residence or an international consulate is prohibited across the world with strict laws.

For instance, in the United States, no person can fly a drone near the White House or surrounding areas. Washington DC is a no drone flying zone.

Similarly, in the UK, drones cannot be flown over the House of Commons, House of Laws, Buckingham Palace, or any other official residences of heads of states. These laws are taken very seriously as drones are often seen as a threat to personal and national security.
