PM Keith Rowley announces unlock of Trinidad and Tobago

Effective from November 1, 2021 restaurants, cinemas, bars and members clubs will be allowed to provide full service to the vaccinated patrons in accordance with the ‘Safe Zone’ policy

Trinidad and Tobago: Effective from November 1, 2021 restaurants, cinemas, bars and members clubs will be allowed to provide full service to the vaccinated patrons in accordance with the ‘Safe Zone’ policy, said Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley during a press conference held at the Diplomatic Centre in St Ann’s on Saturday. He also announced the extension of public gatherings from 5 to 10 persons in groups. Functions that are religious will be allowed with a maximum duration of up to 90 minutes (It was previously 60 minutes) and the capacity at the events will remains the same. PM Rowley also announced that the government has given a notice to Public Service that there will be a full return to offices and attendance of functioning in the coming weeks. However, PM did provide a specific date that when all public services will resume in full swing. Asking the public to hold strain a little bit longer, the prime minister announced that the government is considering re-opening beaches and rivers in the country. Apart from this, the government will also actively consider the return of group sports. Slams Opposition Leader Kamla Persad Bissessar Prime Minister also lambasted Opposition leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar and refuted any interference in the selection process of Police Commissioner in Trinidad and Tobago. Opposition Leader had filed a motion in Parliament to impeach the president over Police Service Commission fiasco. She had alleged that PM had a meeting with the president on August 12 at his house and interfered in the process of delivering the list of nominees to the president for the post of the Commissioner of Police. PM Rowley called it an “absolute falsehood” and said that there was no meeting held at the residence of the President and that he was never involved in the selection process of the Police Service Commission.
