Jamaica: In a significant development, five more citizens of Jamaica became homeowners on Friday, giving them a hope of having a better standard of living. Prime Minister Andrew Holness along with other officials were on hand to provide the keys of the new house to the Jamaicans.

While sharing glimpses of the significant event, PM Holness said that one of them is Clyde Coleman in Rocky Point, Clarendon, who received this latest benefit from the New Social Housing Programme, which the administration is using to improve Jamaican lives for good.

The New Social Housing Programme is a cornerstone of the government’s social safety net, designed specifically to support households with very low or no income.

The Prime Minister noted that the Coleman family has met all the criteria, demonstrating the urgent need and undeniable potential for a brighter future.

While handing over the keys to the family, PM Holness congratulated them and outlined, “We believe that every Jamaican deserves a safe and dignified place to call home. Congratulations to the Coleman family on receiving the keys to their brand-new home.”

According to the information by the prime minister, the house given to the Coleman family is a three bedroom residence. He also talked about the housing programme and said that there are other criteria as well apart from the households that have very low income or no income whatsoever.

The other parts of the criteria include looking at the households that have young children and large elderly households, and this household meets all the criteria set.

So if you’re talking about breaking intergenerational poverty, then the Coleman’s family is a perfect example of this,” noted the Jamaican Prime Minister.

As the Prime Minister shared glimpses of the key handover ceremony on its official Facebook account, several individuals lauded him for thinking about each and every citizen of the country.

“How refreshing to see Jamaican prime minister, doing good towards see social housing,” wrote a user named Lorraine while another user noted, “That’s very nice, I wish them joy and happiness.”
