A local photographer from Nevis, Kacey Jeffers, is all set to exhibit his photographs (all shot in Nevis) in Miami at the Frost Art Museum starting on January 24th, 2024.

The exhibition titled 'Multitudes' will be on view through May 4th, 2024 and is the self-taught artist's solo museum debut.

The Premier of Nevis, Mark Brantley, took to Facebook to appreciate the artist and said, "Please help me congratulate Nevis' own Kacey Jeffers, who will now have his photographs (all shot in Nevis) exhibited in Miami at the Frost Art Museum starting on January 24th, 2024."
While feeling a sense of pride, Premier Brantley added, "I can't begin to say how proud I am of this young man from St James, whom I have seen grow and come into his own in a highly competitive global business. I wish his debut exhibition resounding success."

The exhibition is part of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Exhibition Series. In 1965, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. visited Jamaica with his wife, Coretta, spending long weeks finishing his book Where Do We Go From Here: Chaos and Community. About his time in the Caribbean, he famously remarked, "I felt human."

The Nevisian artist Kacey Jeffers, who combines an affinity for polished fashion photography with a humanistic interest in street journalism, celebrates this notion.

The upcoming exhibition will include twenty-five photographs from various projects, all created on Nevis between 2018 and 2022, that consider the aftermath of colonialism on Nevisian culture—examining aspects such as school uniforms, family life, tourism, cultural celebrations, and the act of photography itself—prompting contemplation of the humanity that populates an island often thought of only as a tourist destination.

Notably, funding for this exhibition was provided by the Dorothea and Steven Green Endowment, FIU's African and African Diaspora Studies program at the Steven J. Green School of International & Public Affairs, and FIU's College of Communication, Architecture + The Arts (CARTA).

Several citizens of Nevis also commended the artist and wished him huge success in future through their Facebook accounts.

"Wonderful news! Congrats to the young man. I will certainly make the drive to see his art," said a user named Denise Patrick, while another user said, "Absolutely wonderful! Congratulations, Kacey."
