The company claims its vaccine is 79% effective against the COVID-19 virus. However, no detailed efficiency data of Sinopharm's COVID-19 vaccine has been released in the public domain.Dominica is running the largest vaccine drive in history on a per capita basis. Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, President Charles Savarin and other cabinet members have also received the vaccine with no severe side effects. They are also anticipated to receive the second doses in a few days.As per the national epidemiologist of Dominica, Dr Shalauddin Ahmed, more than 18,000 people have successfully received their first dose of vaccine in the country. No person showed any allergic reaction to the doses.It is eminent to vaccinate 70% of the population to achieve herd immunity. The pace with the immunization drives are undergoing in Dominica, the entire population of 70,000 would be protected against the virus anytime.
