Leader of Opposition and head of People's National Party, Mark Golding sent his greetings to all Jamaican's home and abroad for the festive season.

Golding stated," “On behalf of the People's National Party, I would like to send best wishes to Jamaicans at home and away for 2021,”

He noted, that is hope that in 2021 Jamaica will get substantial progress in overcoming the great challenges encountered in 2020, a year in which the vulnerabilities of many parts of the society have been shown, with resulting increases in stopping and poverty, and worsening inequality,” added Golding.

He argued that Jamaica's return in the new year would require the support of Jamaicans at home and abroad.

“Here in Jamaica we must stay to help and support one another in these difficult times, showing the true Jamaican spirit of caring and sharing,” said Golding, as he added, “We owe a particular debt of gratitude to our Diaspora, who have been such a great source [of] support in 2020, without which our events would have been much worse”.

Golding saw that the Jamaican economy would take some time to rebound from the ravages of COVID-19, and stressed that the pace of recovery would depend, to a significant extent, on what happens globally.

“Jamaica must learn the lessons that this extreme epoch is teaching us about the need for greater sustainability and flexibility in our socio-economic compositions.

As the festive season has started, all people are learnt to celebrate the festivities through the new-normal culture.

This season has been different from all other holiday season's one has had since their lifetime. Limited gatherings and celebrations under restrictions have proved how the new normal is the way to celebrate these significant days.

The world is still struggling to handle the coronavirus, and some countries are also imposing lockdowns as two new variants of COVID-19 recently emerged in the United Kingdom.
