Barbados is getting its first luxury beach club, with Nikki Beach Worldwide planning to open on the island later this year.
It is the 14th property for the global travel group, and its second in the Caribbean.
The new oceanside property will be in Port Ferdinand, in the north of Barbados. The area is currently home to homes and a luxury resort.
Jack Penrod, founder of the hospitality and lifestyle brand, said: “Since Barbados is a destination that I’ve started to frequent recently, I feel that this location is not only a strategic move from a Nikki Beach business strategy perspective but that Barbados is an island where our brand can really make an impact on a local level."
Opportunities for locals
The beach club will be spread over 1.4 acres, with facilities including a restaurant, pool, water shuttle services, direct yacht docking, and shoreside seating for 200 guests. There will also be direct access to the beach.
“We intend to support the Barbados economy with job opportunities, and will work closely with local farmers and fisherman to bring our farm-to-table menu to our guests," said Pernod.
Caribbean decor would play a part in the beach club's look, Pernod added, with the group sourcing from the region.
Nikki Beach has locations around the world, including Miami Beach in Florida, Monte Carlo in Monaco and Koh Samui in Thailand.
